Desent Solutions – Designer Challenge

One Client. One Homepage. Your Vision.

One of our clients is looking for a new designer — and they'll choose based on the design alone. No portfolios, no interviews to start. Just one screen that shows us how you think and how you craft.

We're not going to hand you a 20-page spec. We want to see if you can take a real product, understand who it's for, and design a homepage that feels great — clear, modern, and something a visitor actually enjoys landing on.

Use any tools you want. Reference, remix, get inspired. We only care about the result.

The Challenge

The client is ubiMaster — an education platform that connects students and young adults with qualified teachers, on-demand, via chat and video. Their promise: personal, instant, unlimited tutoring, with no appointment needed. Take a few minutes to look at their current site so you understand the product and audience.

Your task: design a new homepage for them. Just the homepage — nothing else. Show us the hero, the story, the product, the proof, and the call-to-action, laid out the way you believe it should look.

You don't have to reuse their current content or copy. Reinterpret it, rewrite it, restructure it — surprise us. German or English content is both fine. The point is to see your design vision for this product.

Ground Rules

Keep it simple. Here's the scope.

A designed homepage (desktop, at minimum) — a single, complete page

A clear hero with a headline, supporting text, and a primary call-to-action

A logical section flow down the page (e.g. value, product, social proof, CTA)

Consistent typography, spacing, and color throughout

One Figma link — set to “Anyone with the link → can view”

Nice-to-Haves

Not required — but they'll make your submission stand out.

+

A responsive / mobile version

+

A short note on your design thinking (as a Figma text frame or page)

+

Simple prototype interactions or hover states

+

A small set of reusable components (buttons, cards, nav)

Tooling

Required

Figma — your deliverable is a single Figma link

Everything else is up to you — design system, illustrations, images, AI tools, plugins. Whatever helps you produce the best homepage.

How We Evaluate

Visual Craft40%

Typography, spacing, color, hierarchy, consistency. Does it look polished and intentional — like something a real brand would ship?

UX & Structure25%

Is the page easy to scan? Is the story clear from top to bottom? Do the sections guide the visitor toward the goal?

Creativity & Interpretation25%

Did you just copy the current site, or did you bring your own vision? We want to see your take.

Brand Fit10%

Does the design feel right for the product and its audience — trustworthy, modern, and on-message?

Submission Checklist

A single Figma link

Your homepage design, in one Figma file. That's the only thing you submit.

Link sharing turned on

In Figma, click Teilen and set access to “Anyone with the link → can view” — otherwise we can't open it.

Time Budget

A few hours

Spend as much or as little time as you want. We'd rather see a focused, polished homepage than an over-scoped draft.
